Some information about the prototype and model:

The T 9.3 tender locomotives were used with a maximum speed of 60, later 65 km/h, in front of both passenger and goods trains. The first of a total of 2060 locomotives built for the Prussian State Railways was completed in 1901 by the Königsberg Union Foundry. In 1925, the DRG took over a large number of the locomotives into its fleet and categorised them as 91.3-18 and 91.20 in the redrawing plan. The locomotives were a further development of the Prussian T 9.2. Visually, they differed in particular by the Krauss-Helmholtz frame, which was used instead of the Adam axle. After 1945, the machines were withdrawn from scheduled service, which was completed by the DB in 1964 and by the DR in 1971. During the Second World War, some locomotives were sent to Poland, Austria, Finland and Russia. Today, individual locomotives can be found as museum locomotives in Münster, Dresden and Berlin. In addition, a T 9.3 is preserved ready for use at the Minden Railway Museum.

PIKO continues the expansion of the steam locomotive programme for the garden railway with the lovingly designed model of the class 91.3. The immaculate overall appearance is rounded off by numerous exposed lines and crystal-clear windows. The window and door in the driver's cab can be opened for even more model railway fun. This allows the driver's cab, which has been designed with great attention to detail, to be shown to its best advantage. The model is also technically up to date and impresses with its smooth running behaviour and high tractive forces. This means that nothing stands in the way of hauling prototypical trains. The new PIKO steam locomotive has a special highlight: In the sound version equipped with a decoder at the factory, the model has a pulsed vaporiser and cylinder steam for the first time in G gauge - a harmonious overall picture that leaves hardly any room for wishes. The analogue model is prepared for retrofitting a normal PIKO smoke generator. Hidden under the water tank cover, which can also be opened, is a switch that can be used to switch the firebox light and the lights in the driver's cab and undercarriage area on and off. These functions are switched digitally on the sound model.

The robust yet detailed construction in combination with the technical and digital finesse make the new PIKO G gauge steam locomotive a must-have on every DR garden railway layout.
