Further information about the prototype and the model:

The V 200.1 (later BR 221) is a diesel locomotive for fast and heavy passenger and freight transport. It is a more powerful further development of the well-known V 200. The original produced 50 units between 1962 and 1965 at Krauss-Maffei in Munich. The vehicles were to be found on many routes in all regions of West Germany and are partly still in use today nationwide with private railways.

Locomotive 221 115-9 of the German Bundesbahn. railway directorate Hamburg, railway depot Lübeck, revision date 30.06.66.

The V 200.1/BR 221 is a popular German locomotive that has been available on the model railway market for quite some time, but the new design of the V 200.1/BR 221 from PIKO is currently the most realistic replica of the large diesel locomotive. In addition to the above mentioned highlights, the eye-catching features of the beautifully shaped PIKO locomotive include above all the mould construction in the areas of the sharp engravings on the housing and the perfectly successful bulbous head shape. A powerful engine ensures excellent driving characteristics. The heavy model with two traction tires for high tractive forces has a modern Next18S digital interface for easy digitization. The Sound version is equipped with a matching PIKO SmartDecoder 4.1 Sound Next18S ex works. The built-in loudspeaker is precisely matched to the type of locomotive. Many typical locomotive noises such as engine noise, signal horns and other switchable functions can be called up individually. Closed front aprons are included.

The realistic PIKO locomotives of the class 221 DB convince with their attractive finish and a very good price-performance ratio. The models feature short-coupling kinematics, safe current collection across all wheels and can also be used in smaller radii without any problems. Many lovingly implemented details make the locomotive a feast for the eyes on any layout.

Why you shouldn't miss out on this model:

The BR 221 from PIKO is a modern and finely detailed model of this important locomotive family. The PIKO designers have once again demonstrated their skills on this model and have created a worthy and harmonious monument to an important cult locomotive, which gives a great picture in front of every type of train.
