PIKO Donates €3,000 to the German Youth Fire Brigade
A commitment to young people, volunteering and community spirit
Sonneberg, August 29, 2026. A special model has turned into tangible support for the next generation of firefighters: PIKO Spielwaren GmbH is donating €3,000 to the German Youth Fire Brigade (Deutsche Jugendfeuerwehr). The donation was raised as part of a joint campaign held to mark International Firefighters’ Day 2026. Under the guiding principle “For everyone who is there when it matters – and for those who will be there tomorrow.”, PIKO launched a limited-edition H0 special wagon in spring. With this model, the Sonneberg-based company paid tribute to the indispensable work of firefighters while at the same time providing tangible support for youth development. For every special wagon sold, PIKO donated five euros to the German Youth Fire Brigade. A total of €3,000 was raised in this way. “Few institutions represent helpfulness, responsibility and community as strongly as the fire brigades. To ensure that this remains the case in the future, we need young people who are inspired by this important responsibility and introduced to volunteering from an early age. As a company whose products have connected people of different generations for decades, supporting the next generation is particularly important to us,” explains Jens Beyer, Sales Director and Authorized Signatory at PIKO, who presented the donation to Christian Patzelt, Federal Youth Leader of the German Youth Fire Brigade, and his deputy, Jörn-Hendrik Kuinke. With the presentation of the donation, the campaign has now come to a successful conclusion. Beyond the financial contribution, it is also intended to send a strong message: in appreciation of voluntary commitment and for all those young people who experience community in youth fire brigades today, take on responsibility and may be there for others tomorrow. PIKO would like to thank all model railway enthusiasts, collectors, firefighters and supporters who contributed to this result by purchasing the special wagon. Because many individual models have come together to create something that has an impact far beyond the world of model railways.
