PIKO at Intermodellbau 2026: New Products, Digital Technology and Special Wagon for Fire Brigade Youth
Dortmund, April 2026 – With new models, innovative technology and special activities, PIKO invites visitors to discover and be amazed at Intermodellbau 2026. In addition to selected new releases from the first months of 2026, visitors can take a closer look at digital control solutions, receive advice from a digital expert and take home one or two memorable keepsakes.
Naturally, the focus is on the first models and samples of the year. H0 enthusiasts can look forward to the BR 215 DB diesel locomotive together with the newly tooled four-axle rebuild coaches and the Metropolitan in IC livery. The already highly advanced sample of the garden railway Dual Vectron with digital coupling impressively demonstrates the possibilities of modern garden railway models. TT modelers can anticipate the long-awaited new tooling, the class 91.3 steam locomotive in the Deutsche Reichsbahn version, while N scale fans can also discover numerous new models.
A special highlight is the exclusive PIKO special wagon for “International Firefighters’ Day” on May 4, 2026. The covered H0 freight wagon will be released in a one-time edition and features high-quality printing. For every wagon sold, PIKO will donate €5 to the German Youth Fire Brigade. The campaign follows the motto: “For all those who are there when it matters – and for those who will be there tomorrow.” In doing so, PIKO combines recognition for the commitment of fire brigade personnel with targeted support for young members.
In addition, information about the new PIKO digital components will be available at the stand. The SmartProgrammer-Stick and the SmartProgrammer-Connector offer an easy introduction to decoder programming. To coincide with the start of the garden railway season, samples of the new G scale digital control systems – PIKO G-SmartControlwlan and PIKO G-SmartAnalogControllerwlan – will also be on display.
For young model railway fans and families, PIKO offers an interactive experience: On the play area, models can be controlled, and visitors can design their own H0 or garden railway wagons and take them home as a special keepsake. In addition, starter sets will be available at special trade fair prices along with other attractive promotions. The trade fair team will be available throughout the event to provide advice and answer questions about products, new releases and digital technology.
PIKO will be present in Hall 4, Stand D38/E14, showcasing the diversity of the H0, TT, N and G scales as well as the first new products of 2026. The stand offers a comprehensive overview of current developments, innovative technology and the unique world of model railways. Furthermore, PIKO will provide information about this year’s “Tag der Offenen Tür,” which will take place on June 20, 2026 at the company premises in Sonneberg. The event offers PIKO fans from near and far the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of production.
