06.10.2025 Powerful, detailed, authentic – PIKO presents the Rh 500 with locomotive number 652
Sonneberg/Beekbergen, October 2025 – On October 1, 2025, PIKO presented one of this year’s highlight new models in Beekbergen, Netherlands, under sunny autumn weather: the Rh 500 diesel locomotive in H0 scale. The event took place at the station of the Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij (VSM) and attracted numerous dealers as well as representatives from the regional and model railway press.
After a brief welcome, the new PIKO model was presented outdoors at the station – with the historic NS 532 as an atmospheric backdrop. Afterwards, guests took the opportunity for exclusive photos of the model and the prototype locomotive. The program was rounded off with a get-together featuring coffee, tea, and pastries, as well as lively discussions at the station.
With the new H0 model of the NS 500/600, PIKO once again sets standards in the model railway world. The first version is released with locomotive number 652. The detailed construction impresses with delicate components such as free-standing ladders at the front, fine spoked wheels, and a detailed interior in the driver’s cab. The construction took into account the special features of the original locomotive, including the different front lamps. Equipped with a PSD XP sound decoder, the models provide an authentic operating experience with numerous vehicle-specific light and sound functions.
The successful presentation in Beekbergen impressively demonstrated how PIKO repeatedly sets highlights in the international model railway market with its new releases.
