02.10.2025 PIKO presents new building kit: "Neuffen Station" as a model

Neuffen, September 2025 – A piece of regional railway history in model form: PIKO Spielwaren GmbH recently presented its latest building model in front of the original station in Neuffen – the "Neuffen Station" kit in G scale. It is PIKO’s first G-scale building in quite some time and at the same time a real highlight in the range. The new product was introduced by Mr. Doderer, PIKO’s sales representative, together with the mayor of Neuffen, Mr. Matthias Bäcker.

Since its opening in 1900, Neuffen Station has been the terminus of the Tälesbahn, today operated as regional railway line R82. Located at the foot of the Hohen Neuffen castle ruins, it marks the beginning of the history of the Württembergische Eisenbahngesellschaft (WEG). Early on, the line assumed a central role for the region: it connected the Neuffen Valley with Nürtingen and the wider network, transported agricultural products such as fruit and wine, and served commuters as a daily means of transport.

Architecturally, the station building clearly stands out from comparable rural stations of that time. Unlike the usually plain functional buildings, Art Nouveau was chosen here: clean lines, a representative façade design, and a striking gabled roof. To this day, the building has been largely preserved in its original state and is considered a rare example of aesthetically sophisticated rural stations in Württemberg.

The station is also of tourist importance. Particularly the "Sofazügle", a historic museum train that runs on selected days between Nürtingen and Neuffen, attracts visitors from near and far. Thus, the station is both a vibrant part of modern regional transport and a piece of living railway history.
With the "Neuffen Station" kit (Art. No. 65000), PIKO is bringing a new product to the market in 2025 that represents an attractive highlight especially for garden railway enthusiasts. The kit impresses with its generous dimensions of 1,350 × 470 × 550 mm and thus becomes a dominant design element of any layout.
PIKO placed particular emphasis on authentic details: the model features carefully reproduced half-timbered sections, small towers, and green-painted gutters. The doors are also movable, which enhances the realistic impression. With its architectural elegance, the model continues the tradition of the original building and offers railway modellers a visual as well as technical gem for their layouts.

"Neuffen Station is a landmark of our town – thanks to PIKO, it now travels around the world as an ambassador of our region," emphasized Mayor Matthias Bäcker during the presentation.

With the presentation of the "Neuffen Station" building kit, PIKO has not only expanded its G range with an exceptional model but also emphasized the historical significance of the original. The combination of regional railway history, architectural distinctiveness, and modern model implementation makes the new kit a valuable addition for garden railway enthusiasts and collectors alike.
