May 15, 2025 Press Release: PIKO at the Tulln Model Building Days 2025 – PIKO Models Impress in Austria Too!
The Tulln Model Building Days 2025, held from April 25 to 27 at the exhibition grounds in Tulln, once again attracted more than 20,000 visitors this year. This long-standing event, considered one of the most important gatherings for the model railway industry in the German-speaking world, once again offered an impressive platform for technical precision, creative craftsmanship, and genuine passion for the model building hobby.
During the Model Building Days, PIKO was honored by the Association of Austrian Model Railway Clubs (VOEMEC) with the "Model of the Year 2024" award in the category "Electric Locomotives H0" for the H0 model of the ÖBB BR 1018.07. VOEMEC President Wieland Zimmer and Vice President Gerhard Caravias presented the certificate to PIKO Sales Director Jens Beyer at the PIKO booth.
The award-winning Rh 1018 model impresses with its accurate reproduction of the Austrian express train locomotive in all relevant details. PIKO has succeeded in faithfully capturing both the distinctive silhouette of the original machine and its finer features in H0 scale. The technical equipment — including a powerful motor with precise running characteristics, digital sound functions, and prototypical lighting — also met with universal acclaim.
For PIKO, this award is a special recognition of the company's continuous development efforts and its high-quality standards. With the already announced Rh 1067 model, whose pre-production sample was presented for the first time in Tulln, the company consistently continues this commitment. The overwhelmingly positive feedback at the trade fair confirms: PIKO remains a reliable driver of innovation in the model railway world – to the delight of all enthusiasts and collectors.
