07.02.2018 PIKO press release relating to the 69th International Toy Fair 2018 in Nuremberg

Every year, the Toy Fair in Nuremberg is a must-attend event for every exhibitor, retailer and for numerous media representatives. From January 31st until the 4th of February a total of 2.902 companies from 68 different countries present their newest products to the 71.000 curious visitors. Despite the fact that the duration of the fair was reduced to 5 days, the organisers gladly reported another record attendance.

The officials of the PIKO Spielwaren GmbH (hall 4A, stand C-228) were also satisfied with the turnout of this year’s fair. They had many interesting and constructive discussions and meetings with retailers, importers and media representatives. The presentation of the new products by PIKO owner Dr. René F. Wilfer and Mr. Frank Buttig is an entertaining highlight, that is developing into a yearly tradition of the Toy Fair in Nuremberg. As in previous years, PIKO again managed to present numerous innovative new items on the 2018 Toy Fair in Nuremberg. One of the most important new products presented on the fair was the new digital system PIKO SmartControllight, which was demonstrated to the visitors at the PIKO stand. The comfortable digital controller, which will also be available as part of numerous attractive starter sets, is the reasonably priced alternative to its “big brother”, the already available PIKO SmartControl system.

Further highlights included the four new G-scale locomotives. Besides the already available museum locomotive BR 24 with its Wagner smoke deflectors (Item number: #37221), PIKO showed first samples of the long-awaited electric locomotive BR 103 and a nearly final sample of the steam locomotive BR 95 DR from era IV-V. The American diesel locomotive GE-25Ton with the integrated track cleaning function was another innovative new product and will be available in Q3 2018.

The elegant black PIKO stand did not only offer something for fans of G-scale models and friends of digital controlling technologies. PIKO also manged to show many of the announced new moulds and colour versions of locomotives and wagons in the scales H0, TT and N. Overall PIKO will release nearly 400 new products in 2018 and as in the previous years, they plan to do that on time and as announced.

Encouraged by a successful Toy Fair and a promising sales performance in January, PIKO is looking positively into the model railway year of 2018.
