Roll Out: G-scale Diesel Locomotive V 36

Press Release PIKO G-scale Diesel Locomotive V 36.

On October 23, 2014 PIKO celebrated the roll-out of the PIKO G-scale Diesel Locomotive V36 at its headquarters in Sonneberg, Thuringia.

PIKO owner Dr. René F. Wilfer took advantage of the press conference to not only introduce the new PIKO G-scale model but also to present some key facts about the development of PIKO’s business in the current year.

By the end of the third quarter PIKO’s sales are slightly ahead of plan with a year over year growth of 8%. This is caused not only by the continuing positive business development in Germany, where PIKO at the end of September is up by 15%, but also by the development in the U.S., where the G-scale segment is especially successful.

There is a multitude of reasons for the positive development. Chief among those are the timely delivery of new items (in 2014 PIKO will again deliver all new items that where announced for the year), the trusting relationship with dealers as well as customers, and the high availability of products.

During the event guests had a chance to tour the new 5,000-pallet high-rack warehouse. This 2 million EUR facility that opened at the end of last year and the quantitatively, as well as qualitatively, high production output of the two PIKO factories in Sonneberg, Thuringia and Chashan in southern China form the basis for the excellent availability of PIKO products.

As a result the toy train manufacturer will continue its upward trajectory in the market in its 65th year. PIKO offers the model train enthusiast a full range of products for the H0 and G-scale segment and a wide range of locomotives and cars in TT and N-scale that continually expands with the yearly release of new molds in these scales.

As such PIKO managed to further secure its third place in the model train market and is optimistic about the upcoming all-important Christmas buying season.

PIKO expects the V36 G-scale locomotive that was presented at the roll-out will fuel further growth in this market segment as it holds top positions on many garden railway enthusiasts’ Christmas wish lists.

The model of the V36 diesel locomotive will be assembled in Sonneberg, Thuringia like all other PIKO G-scale products. It will be released to the PIKO dealers by the end of October and has a MSRP of 300 EUR.

The small diesel locomotive is very versatile. It can be used to haul short passenger and freight trains or as a complement to the BR 64. Together the two locomotives exclusively handled the train and switching assignments on many DB branch lines. A large number of suitable freight and passenger cars from the comprehensive PIKO G-scale range can be used to assemble interesting train makeups.

Due to the use of special plastics, the model is weather resistant and can be used outdoors, like all other PIKO G-scale products.

The model is prepared for DCC conversion and can be fitted with the PIKO Sound Module #36224 without any difficulty. Equipped with sound, it offers an even more fun and realistic atmosphere to the garden railroad enthusiast.
