Original:

Bombardier started delivery of the third batch of TRAXX P160 AC2’s in 2005 The locomotives are a further development of the TRAXX family and incorporate the changes and improvements introduced with the BR 185.2 They are designated BR 146.2. The most obvious change is the modified carbody that complies with the most recent safety and crash-resistance regulations. The locomotives can be identified by the carbody that extends downwards at the corners and the front access doors. DB Regio stables the 51 locomotives delivered to DB AG thus far in Stuttgart, Nürnberg and Freiburg. The private operator NOB owns 4 similar locomotives and Metronom a further 17. The Verkehrsbetrieb Würtemberg uses its locomotives on various Inter-RegioExpress-, Regional-Express- and Regionalbahn lines originating in Stuttgart. The majority of trains are made up of bi-level coaches, still the locomotives can be seen regularly hauling older rolling stock. The Freiburg based locomotives operate over the Schwarzwaldbahn.

Model:

Fine engravings on the model show every last detail on fan grilles, access doors and grab irons. The truck side frames and the roof with its power lines and pantographs were modeled based on prototype documentation. The powerful motor drives all four axles through Cardan shafts and gearboxes.
